ProvenanceThe second of two albums by a Luftwaffe propaganda unit photographer named Seidat. Almost all images are of the Eastern Front, documenting German advances, burning villages and war-damaged towns. Of particular interest are photographs of Soviet POWs (both male and female soldiers and including some strong head-and-shoulders portraits). Also of note are photographs of unidentified Luftwaffe fighter ace and a Ufa-Palast 'cinema' in a converted log cabin (with jocular handpainted notice 'Unders 18s admitted only when accompanied by their grandparents'). A September 1941 clipping from the 'Feldzeitung' ('Battlefield News') newspaper announces the successful attack on Kiev and capture of 665,000 Red Army prisoners.
