ProvenanceSecond of two war albums of an unnamed soldier (entitled 'Kriegserinnerungen' - War Memories). Photographs document barracks life in Germany (including a snowball fight while in dress uniform) and desert warfare in North Africa. Photographs illustrate camp life, camouflage, desert scenes and camp theatre performances. Included are aerial views from a Ju52/3m, possibly after the photographer had been wounded and was being transferred back to Europe. The war photographs are of transit through Bulgaria (?) to Greece and include group portraits in front of ancient monuments. Album concludes with photographer's apparent recruitment into the police, a retirement party and formal 1950s office portrait.
