ProvenanceA US Navy album primarily composed of photographs of photographs from India, modern day Pakistan (Karachi), and then immediate post-war Europe. His Indian photos take in civilian life, street performers, a zoo, and a departure parade. He seems to have travelled quite a lot in Germany taking in what looks to be Cologne and other recently war-torn cities. Interesting especially for two German late Panther tanks, and a nice portrait of a female Russian solder. The with the stamp of Debrecen, a city in Hungary. The 1945-produced Panthers were photographed either in the Vienna area or in the western border area of Czechoslovakia, and likely the inventory number '62' painted on the mantlet by the Russians or Americans – in depth study of the turret numbers will probably lead to identification of place and unit. Remarkable is that the tanks are partly painted white to enable them to be seen at night.
