ProvenanceUS pre-war/WW2 aviation album of an unknown airmen, possibly serving in 21st Reconnaissance Unit in the United States, Panama and Canada. Personal photographs document his training in the US, relaxation in Panama and transfer to Newfoundland. Of particular note are detailed summer and winter photographs of Gander Airfield, St. John's and a US military excursion to Lake Harbour, Labrador (including one snapshot of an Inuit group at their summer camp).
Also of note are photographs of an RAF early variant Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress and many USAAF aircraft including Martin B-10 bomber, Boeing 307 Stratoliner, Douglas B-18 Bolo, Curtiss P-36 Hawk, Curtiss P-40 Warhawk, Curtiss A-12 Shrike, Consolidated PBY Catalina and other flying boats. Some rare photos of a very early B17 with British markings. Some of photographs of Inuits.
Official (archive) photographs record a flypast of Randolph Air Field (near San Antonio, Texas), an unidentified tri-wing bomber and the wreck of the USS Shenandoah, a United States Navy rigid airship that crashed in Ohio in 1925.
Also includes photographs of the unnamed airman's home, his mother, his car and his girlfriend/wife Ethyl May.
Ephemera includes cartoons and humourous cards. Some captions.
