The photographs cover the space of about a year of active service with many great and detailed shots of the type of aircraft being flown; Henschel Hs 126, Focke-Wulf Fw 189, the visit of Hermann Göring, Hugo Sperrle and Albert Kesselring, the crew and staff of the squadron, the repair and maintenance of the aircraft, damaged aircraft returning from missions, and general airfield life.
Later, as the unit advances, there are wayside pictures of destroyed and captured Russian tanks and the city of Smolensk.
