ProvenanceAlbum of RAF Sgt. William (Bill) Simmons, an instructor at an RAF Flying Training School in Canada (No. 34 S.F.T.S. RAF Medicine Hat, Alberta). Photographs document the training of British, Canadian, Czechoslovakian, Norwegian, Australian and New Zealand pilots under the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan. Simmons then retrained as a parachute troop instructor for the SAS and Indian or Chinese (Kuomintang?) servicemen hence album contains many photographs of training jumps as well as numerous RAF aircraft including Bostons and Oxfords. Of special interest is the September 1941 visit of HRH Duke of Kent to the Medicine Hat school. In 1944 Simmons was transferred to India. Album also includes many good tourist snapshots of Lake Louise, Banff, Nelson, Vancouver and the Rockies. Captions.
