ProvenanceFirst of four albums of an unknown serviceman in the 9th SS "Der Fuhrer" Regiment which became part of the "Das Reich" Division. Photographs document the advance into and battles in the Netherlands, Belgium and France. Includes snapshots of the break-through of the Grebe Line defensive fortifications, extensive war ruins, fellow servicemen, many POWs, graves and dead as well as Amsterdam, Lüttich, Tours and Orleans.
Of particular note are rare pictures of German occupation troops in Ainhoa near the Spanish border, and the border itself.
A good album of the experience of an SS trooper in the early part of the war.
