ProvenanceUS WW2 aviation album by Sgt. A. J. Stafford who served in the 398th Battle Group at the end of the war in Europe. Photographs document final bombing raids over Germany with remarkable aerial photographs of devastated Frankfurt, Cologne, Aachen, Koblenz and Ludwigshafen. Also of note are many photographs of flying, attacking, damaged and crashed Boeing B-17 Flying Fortresses and North American P-51 Mustangs, ground and air crews, aerial reconnaissance photographic equipment and wounded airmen. In addition album contains snapshots of VE Day celebrations, base parties and dances, London, Oxford and Cambridge as well as aerial shots of liberated Brussels and Paris. The album shows the end of the war in Europe, including some of the final missions over Germany. There are excellent photographs of American aircraft, some damaged, including P51.
