ProvenanceFirst of two German WW2 albums of a paratrooper in 10./Fs.Jg.Rgt.3. Photographs document his participation in the May 1941 invasion of Crete (Unternehmen Merkur) with images of combat, Greek POWs, Cretan allies, war damage as well as views of Chania and Maleme airfield (plus Athens and Corinth on the mainland).
As paratrooper albums are rare, the snapshot of the first two Pz.Kpfw.II arriving in Crete (Panzerkompanie Kreta - 5xPz.Kpfw.II & 17xPz.Kpfw.III) is all but unique.
After Crete, the unnamed serviceman was transferred to the Leningrad front (winter 1941/42), Normandy and then finally to Italy (Monte Cassino area) where he fought with or in collaboration with 1./Fs.Pz.Jg.Abt.1.
Ephemera includes newspaper clippings, Captions.
